Last week, we told you about 2 competitors who, like NH LAKES, had their sights fixed on capturing the Guinness World Record for largest free floating raft of canoes and kayaks. This past weekend, Floatzilla hosted their event on the Mississippi River – while by all accounts paddlers had a great time, organizers indicated they did not set a new record (but click on the photo below to check out their aquatic style – pirate attire seemed the most popular).
So for now, Saturday, September 7th’s LakeFest: Hands Across the Water event on Lake Winnipesaukee still aims to break the existing record of 1,902 boats held by One Square Mile of Hope. That could change, as Floatilla launches on Sutton’s Bay in Michigan on August 31st – we’ll keep you posted with their final number.
In the meantime, please click here to register for LakeFest 2013; we CAN bring the Guinness World Record to NH, but we DO need your help! (Be sure to register for just $15 per boat by 8/31; registration fee increases to $20 on 9/1)
